The Ashe County Christmas Tree Growers Association sponsored the first Christmas in July festival in 1986 to promote Ashe County Christmas trees. The festival has diversified over the years, and is now an annual event, taking place on the streets of downtown West Jefferson on the first Friday evening and Saturday in July. Many years coinciding with the Fourth of July. The festival features arts and crafts, food vendors, live music and street dancing, street performers, children activities, Civil War re-enactments, Santa and Mrs. Clause and lots of fun for the entire family.
On Friday night, enjoy live music from performing mountain music/bluegrass and classic rock mix, street dancing and food vendors.
Saturday the festival is in full swing all day featuring live music, food vendors, arts & craft vendors, street performers, re-enactments, a community stage featuring local talent, demonstrations by the Ashe County Christmas Tree Association and other surprises! Come visit historic downtown West Jefferson in beautiful Ashe County for our annual fun-filled Christmas in July Festival and enjoy the weekend in the land of the Christmas trees and cool breezes.
